Garden Update #3
- 3/28/2012
I tinkered outside a little yesterday. I planted Broccoli Raab Rapini. It' similar to Broccoli but smaller shoots. More of the stem and leaves are edible. I also sowed parsnips (Harris Model). I have never planted parsnips before, but I love to eat them. The radishes have sprouted, and a few peas are peaping through the soil. I don't plan to grow greens for the restuarant as they take a lot of time. We have other good sources for greens. I did plant seeds in a couple pots for home use, mesclun greens and arugula. Last year, bugs seemed to love the arugula that was planted in the ground. Lastly, I started some seeds in cardboard egg cartons saved from the restuarant: Roma Tomatoes, Peppers, Melons, and Black eyed Susan Vines for the mail box. I'll stop at Berlin Seeds today to pick a few things up for more seed starting. Happy planting!
